What it is
The S-61 Delfín, of the Daphné class, served in the Spanish Navy for 30 years (1973-2003) — longer than any other submarine in the history of the Spanish Submarine Force. It completed over 2,500 voyages and logged more than 30,000 hours submerged, with more than a thousand sailors aboard over its service life.
The bond with Torrevieja
It did not end up in Torrevieja by chance. The city sponsored the submarine from its launch and presented it with its first combat flag on 1 December 1974. Almost thirty years later, when it was decommissioned, the Ministry of Defence wanted its last flag to go to Torrevieja too, in a ceremony at the Cartagena Arsenal. The submarine was towed into port on 8 May 2004.
Since then it has been part of the Sea and Salt Museum, and was the first Spanish Navy vessel to become a floating museum — a pioneer in Spain for this kind of conversion.

Qué se visita
El recorrido atraviesa distintos compartimentos: la sala de torpedos, el puesto de mando, las literas de la tripulación, los espacios para oficiales, la cocina eléctrica, y los baños compartidos. Los guías se centran, sobre todo, en cómo era la vida cotidiana a bordo — con 56 personas conviviendo en un espacio de apenas unos metros de ancho durante semanas.
Audioguías disponibles en nueve idiomas. En 2019 se convirtió en el primer museo flotante en ser adaptado a personas con diversidad funcional.
No está solo
Junto al Delfín, en el mismo puerto, están la Patrullera Albatros III (Servicio de Vigilancia Aduanera hasta 2006) y la patrullera de la Guardia Civil Río Almanzora (desde 2023) — Torrevieja tiene, en total, tres museos flotantes en su puerto pesquero.
Precio: 2 € (altura mínima 1,15 m para entrar). Horario invierno (septiembre-junio): martes a sábado, aprox. 9:30-13:30 h. Horario verano (julio-agosto): tardes/noches, aprox. 17:00-22:00 h (varía cada temporada, verificar antes de publicar cifra exacta). Cerrado lunes, días de lluvia y festivos.
